Updating Charges & Mortgages Register

Notifying settlement of Mortgage or release of mortgaged property

An overseas company, registered with the Registrar of Companies, must inform the Registrar of Companies, by submitting form AE14 to update the register with the following:

  • payment in full or in partial of the debt for which the mortgage was registered or;
  • release in full or partial of the property mortgaged.

Registering the notification

You may submit to the Registrar of Companies the form for the settlement of registered mortgage or release of mortgaged property (form AE14),  within twenty-one (21) days from the date of the settlement of mortgage, by hand/post, accompanied by:

  • the consent of the beneficiary of the mortgage;
  • a fee of twenty euros (€20) euros and, an additional fee of twenty euros (€20) if the accelerated procedure is required.

The fees are payable in cash, by cheque (made payable to “Registrar of Companies”), via an account maintained with the Department of the Registrar of Companies or, via bank transfer.

You are advised to refer to the Explanatory Notes, so as to acquire a better understanding of what is required and to facilitate the process further.

Provided that the Registrar of Companies is satisfied that all, relevant to the circumstances, legal requirements have been met, he will proceed with registering the settlement of mortgage or release of mortgaged property and updating the companies register.

The new consolidated form AE14 has been implemented as from December 6th, 2021, in replacement of forms ΗΕ30 and ΗΕ31 as regards to overseas companies.
